Default Anyone fitted JE Pistons And Eagle Rods

just a coule of questions! on the rods the big end the cut outs for the bearings do these go towards the back of the block or the front? there is also writing on the 1 side of the rod if this could be used for reference!

just i see no mentioning in the paperwork with them about the way they connect with the pistons which also arnt marked i guess they just go with the bigger valve cut out on the inlet side of the bore as the valves are wider

thanks in advance for any help

Ben....

As i said to you on MSN earlier Ben, each rod is different and you'll need to check with the manufacturer for any particular installation instructions.

Regards the piston, having the larger cut out recess for the larger valve sounds like a logical thing to do

no mate but one set of valve cut outs are a lot bigger than the other ,i ran mine with the larger ones on the inlet side as the st170 inlet valves are bigger than the exhaust onesand thats the head i was using. wouldnt of thought it made any differance what way round the rods go as long as you put all four in the same

i think your right and it doesnt matter but just making sure from people who have used them! there are markings on them but doesn't state anything and the instructions dont either

just talkin eagle rods mate! cant really check with the manufacturer as they are in another country and i want it done today! the fact that they haven't put it in the supplied instructions tells me that it doesn't matter! im sure there are enough experienced people on here without needing to pick up the phone. especially with them being pretty common on engine builds

Ben,

I'm having a couple of weeks off mine as it was starting to piss me off. Just take a deep breath, put your feet up, grab a beer and drop Eagle an e-mail tomorrow asking for confirmation that the rods aren't directional...

I assure you, you'll be really pissed if you nail it all together now, seal the sump on, put it in the car and then find out it's wrong

Shouldnt the writing always go towards the timing belt side and all rods will have a thrust side where it is slightly offset, my Eagles did. The cutouts go the opposite way if I remember when I was advised about my rods.

Ben,
There is not a specific direction to install them. They are symmetrical.

Thanks.
