FAO Hexxon
As you have deffo out classed other "users" who have no replies to your vast knowledge ....can you give me your opinions on using:-
The ARP stud and nut kit for the cylinder head
Liners in blocks
Re using a WRC multi layer gasket
Very interested in your views on these issues.
Thanks.

Testing the future
i'm not convinced that Patrik has shown us a huge 'knowledge' yet. he's certainly given us his opinions on a lot of technical subjects, and i for one am very interested to read them.

Rainbird i would suspect he being from where he comes from will not diss the ARP as the 735bhp Escos runs them ..As for liners its obligatory now on "proper" YB's ...re using the WRC is possible but not recommended

Mike, you are being a bit harsh on Phil with that reply..........
The ARP stud and nut kit for the cylinder head
Not needed
Liners in blocks

Re using a WRC multi layer gasket

I have not out classed anybody? Me, im not in the power of doing so...
Well let me see now.
The ARP stud and nut kit for the cylinder head
Dont have any personal experience of these, said to work fine. One thing i do know is that the quality of steel and thread in ARP-studs is rarely out classed.
Liners in blocks
Works well when properly done. The need for it is questionable many times though. Theres a lot of worrying things about this technique though. Look at the problems experienced with the early BDT's, where liners started to move... The last thing in an engine you want rocking about... Stuff of nightmares... Would never let someone i didnt trust 110% perform this on an engine for me.
Re using a WRC multi layer gasket
No, please... You put a lot of strain on the material the actual first time you run it warm tightened... Dont like this at all.

Thanks for your healthy view of it all!
I am as a matter of fact unknown to almost everybody on this board... My knowledge, i believe, is not known to anybody but myself here...

Cheers mate.....i have used and had NO problems with ARP...all my builds run liners and again no problems as of yet even on big boost big bhp....my theory is this...the metal used in my liners are stronger than the original bore thus allowing me to run higher comp with big power without worrying about cylinder pressures cracking it...plus if something fucks up i just reliner without scrapping the block ....as i said i wouldnt reuse a wrc gasket BUT know people who successfully have.
Nice to have an intelligent person who doesnt appear arrogant even when set upon

I look at it this way. Liners are loose parts experiencing extreme amounts of pressure and heat. I want as few loose parts experiencing this as possible in my engine... Once these babys start to pop, you are in for some disco inferno...

Ive mentioned this in the "plenum-thread"... If interested, check it out If you cant find it, ask again...
