Default paying for a car - how?

What would you say is the best way to buy/pay for a car if a good chunk of cash?

Naturally you could do cash, but then the seller may be iffy about accepting that amount of cash, plus you have the risk of carrying it, plus as most of the time you view or buy cars at the weekend you can't go to the bank with them.

Bankers draft, but then this needs to clear so you have to leave payment and the car with the seller

Bank transfer, but again, seller has the car and the cash for a time.

What do peeps do on cars over 10k?

Cash is the way bud.

I accepted a bankers draft for my Mercedes A210 Evo 2 years ago for £12500 and I released the car...... I was papping myself if it bounced but the bank did say 'It's garuanteed funds'

If you dont want to turn up to a strangers house with 10k in your pocket, call your banks bearest branch to his house and tell them you want to withdraw 10k on whatever date it is, And strike a deal with the owner, and complete transaction in the bank.

my bank is w*nk lol, think 3k is the max per day .

I think the best bet is to go and view it, then arrange to come up and collect it, and either do a bank transfer the day before or take cash on the dash and make it a time when the banks are open so he can pay it in there and then making sure it is all real.

Any downsides to a transfer ?? would most likely do it the day before so funds are cleared for my arrival.

Bankers draft can be forged and often it is only when your bank presents it to the bank the draft came from that they say they didn't issue it iirc.

Looks like cash lol!!
