Try a software download m8,
Hold down the backup button, pull the power out of the back, wait 5 seconds, put the power back in and wait for all the lights to light on the front of the box, then let the backup button go.
It'll download the software, should take about 10 mins.
That might fix your problems m8.

HD boxes are a bitch for doing this, as above hold the back up button on the box, may take some time as they are lazy as fook. I dont know how many I had to replace coz of this.
If that doesnt do the trick and you are prepared to loose all your recordings, do the same process but hold the left and right arrows on the box, this will do a master reset of the box LAST RESORT THOUGH.
What make is your box mate? Samsung Pace or Thomson, will tell you on the back. I can advise you if you are out of warranty

done the rest by switching it off and powered off for 10 minutes and the picture and recording returend but they were missing a frame per shot, if you know what i mean, very jerky and choppy pictures
so then i did the reset with the button pressed, and it took about 10 minutes, boy that was a bitch holding that button down
these seems to have worked so fingers crossed
i await my new card in the next few months to see if that will also cause a problem
thanks for teh help guys appreciate it a lot

like this
although how easy is this 1000gig upgrade is, if that's possible as it's about 8 times more than i can normally record on a drive that isn't 8 times as big

Plug and play just about mate but the boxes are a bitch to open.
The new cards are just a precaution.
If its a pace box, these are being recalled due to cooling issues, so you could play that card or if you phone them up tell them your box is playing up, wait for them to say
"Ok I see your out of warranty, thatll be £XXXX for a new box"
Simply say you've been a customer for x amount of years, want the box for noubt, when they say NO you simply say the magic word CANCEL and they will bend over backwards for you to keep you!!!!

Will do mate, they are trying to reach a target of customers by the end of this year, they wont get rid of any HD customers either! Your paying enough for it.
Although the 9.75 is being done away with soon

The hd box wont recognise anything over a 500gig, so if you put a 1tb drive in you will end up with 500gb.
You first need to format the drive using your pc and SkyCopyPlus.
http://www.skycopyplus.co.uk/
Then you can install the drive, copyplus can also clone your old drive so you wont loose any of your recordings.
It is just 2 screws on the bottom and the cover comes off from the front. Be carefull of the leds on the front when removing the cover.

total package (at both houses = £86 a month) with internet (at one house = £10 for unlimited) and phonebills (at both houses = around £30) and multi room (at both houses, both downstairs rooms at the folks, upstairs downstairs at mine = £20) and HD (at one house = £10) soon adds up
so without the phone bills i'm forking out £126 a month
