Default DTA or L8?

Being the indecisive person i am, i've got myself stuck on what route to go with my cosworth....

I've decided to get rid of my super 8 and i'm going to run 4 injectors.

I'd thought about going L8, but then decided i'd like a new engine loom. This along with a new chip, wasted spark conversion etc etc brings the cost up to pretty much what the S60 DTA/Loom is...

Advantages of L8

Pretty much plug and play.

Disadvantages of L8 (for me)

Live mapping would mean a relatively expensive trip to black pool, once you factor boats/planes etc etc.

Advantages of DTA

I can get it lived mapped a few miles up the road, also means i have support close at ahnd incase something goes wrong.

Disadvantages of DTA

Not as straight forward to fit - I'd need to change to the late sapph alternator/PS pump V belt setup so i can use a small turbo 36-1 trigger wheel. Apart from that i can use the original sensors.

Paul my own saff 2wd runs on l8,wasted spark, closed loop,al.lc ,just been lived mapped by stu,and pulls like a train, stuck with a plug and play ecu as i had a new engine loom in my car, getting it live mapped at msd might be a cost issue as he woild need the car for a week,it was bad enough having the 700 mile round trip each week end to drop car of,and collect, but once mapped, shouldnt need to go back, plus if you buy the soft were, you can moniter the condition of your sensors, injectors etc, your self,it,s your call mate

Steven is doing Marks DTA in June too.

I think his problem is he's essentially doing the car stuff part time til he finishes teaching for the summer...

I know he'll map the car really well - i'm just too impatient to wait for him

I've not heard much about momentum to be honest?

@Stu, The disadvantage for me is i need to buy absolutely everything to get my car back on an L8, so it actually works out quite a bit more expensive than the DTA (well DTA not including mapping costs lol)

I've fitted all the nice bits to a mates L8 equipped sapph and even with an off the shelf chip it was a great car! But for the spec i'd like to have when i finish i'd need a live map to make the most of it - thats where the hassle comes in!

I have dta s60 for mine,also got rid of a 'super 8' .

I am lucky though cos I have a local rolling road/mate to map it .

Excellent value for money as well, als, launch, full throttle shift, 2x maps

etc

Have not fitted it yet as I am gonna run it in on 4xgreens and a level1.
