So Dan, Should i have a seperate amp for every pair of speakers?

Ok wil try and keep this as simple as poss (this is all my opinion of course and some will disagree but hey ho , fuck em)

There are 3 types of set up
1 reference - basicly its where you build the system to reproduce the music as near as possible to the original source , ie live on stage sound. depth,with and clarity are the aim of the game.
2 street bass - very bass heavy system designed with the intention of playing all the low frequency stuff in music tracks as loud as possible (attention seekers type of system lol)(( yes thats me ))
3 basic upgrade - replace the front and rear speakers with better quality units powered off the head unit , add an amplified subwoofer as it will create a certain depth to the overall sound .

I know not everyone likes the idea of fitting 6x9's in the rear shelf but i do simply because in your case with only 10cm mids up front running off your h/u you will loose a hell of a lot of the frequencies needed to create a nice ritch sound . if you fit a sub you can turn the bass level down on the head unit wich will mean less distortion on your mids + tweets at high volume but the low frequencies will still be there . if you set it all up well you can get a fairly nice sounding system for very little money .
Take your time to fit everything solidly and safely , power cables need to be fused and grommets used when going through metal , amps subs and speakers need to be properly screwed down . keep power cables away from signal cables to avoid interference etc etc .

I think im after number 2 haha, with a bit of 1 lol

I want my drum and bass to be really bassy

But like you say, i want to be able to turn the sub down to listen to say kings of leon or something less bassy and it still sound good... haha

I want my D&B to be Really bassy

And my less bassy stuff to not be distorted when i turn it up, basically lol

Is that achievable for a couple of hundred quid (Thats without the head unit lol)

Big bass is no good as someone else said before it will just rattle like fuck

Even in mine I'm running Sony door components running off my HU (pretty crap components but hey ho) and a Pioneer 12" sub amped and I've turned the bass right down running NO bass boost and low frequencies are like -3 and -4 respectively. Really don't need big bass for things to sound good.
