yes, i currently have a suspected torn cartlidge and damaged ACL, although im still waiting for the scan results.
I personally want to get back to playing football asap so i think surgery is the only option for me. Physio will help if you're not too bothered with sport i guess?

I have "nicked" the cartlidge in my right knee and its a pain in the neck or should that be knee ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
The problem with knee injuries is blood flow is limited in that area and injuries take ages to heal, I had a cat scan on my knee too and the consulting surgeon said that he did not want to poke around with the injury and prescibed a course of physio to sort it out, it has got better but is not and won't ever be 100% again
Depending on the severity of each injury its the decision of wether to operate or not, hopital should advise you on that and obviously you can make a judgement depending on how it feels to you, if it gets to the point of where you can't walk you'd have to get something done about, but if its not too severe you can train it and look after it![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
I'm still playing football and just strap mine up well before each game, also concentrate on strenghening it in the gym and constantly watch my weight as this is a major contributing factor on the load bearing joints![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Had the cartilege in my left knee removed nearly 4 years ago as I tore it. Keyhole, takes about an hour but you WILL need physio on it mate, that's a fact. You also want to take the rosehip tablets from Holland and Barrett as the impact of jumping on and off a truck will screw the joint completely if you don't look after it - there's no 'grisle' there to stop the bones from crunching together and it'll soon start to hurt, believe me.

Specialist is likly to say you need an operation, there will around a 3 month waiting(or 6k if you want to go private and be straight in) list and then 3-6 moth physio after.
Not fun and no guaratee it'll complete recovery.

Had key hole done on mine 10 years ago. I wanted to continue with sports and my dad had Bupa cover through work and so it was paid for by them.
Ironically after having it done I then decided to take some time off following the surgeons advice. 10 years later I have had my first full season back for a Sunday team and it has felt great - especially showing some of the younger punks who are in our team how it should be done.
If you can afford it get it done private, your could be doing more damage and wear than you may think.
