IIRC it helped keep the rear tyres warm/warm them up on the race track so they didnt spin so much and had more grip from the outset.

starting off with a proper rear beam and one that hasnt been ridiculously lowered would be a better start than a side exit

I find that quite strange when rally cars etc use high temperature alloys such a titanium and inconel

They can and do work well, mainly weight saving, Make sure the first 12-18" is steel/inconel or titainium incase of extreme turbo failure.

forgive my ignorance, but the annealing temperature of alum is only around 300-400°C depending on the alloy, surely you would need to be bach further back than 12-18" away from the turbo, as I would guess EGT's would be far in excees of this?

The "fabricator" uses it on his own car, only advantage he says is weight, but temps prove not to be a problem, not sure if he uses a different material for front section, will ask, but is on his 600bhp FWD honda prelude, he's also a NOS dealer(highpower), and does all things fabrication and one off, even did some work on the uk car that cracked 273mph, can't remember it's name, try and get a piccie.
His workmanship is awsome, and his prices very reasonable too, even has his own bays with car lifts that you can rent hourly/daily with all tools supplied inc tyre machine press welders etc.

he runs all his high power cars on them saves so much weight and they sound the bollox.

He has a 900bhp supra with one on the turbo glows bright red and even the vband is ally

i did ask him what will it withstand he replied "more heat that 99% of cars can give"

does this guy know much about metals? for your turbo to glow red, being a high steel alloy it will need to reach around 650 deg C, anealing temp of alum is 300-400 deg C, so the alum will be in anealed condition at all times or "O" condition, this is when alum is at its softest and easiest to deform

also as aluminium alloys oxidise, buy heating them up to these temp and cooling them in atmosphere they will corrode massively

has he given you any indication as to how long these exhausts last?

that exhaust has been on that supra for nearly 2 years now its quite big in the jap scene, its not as if its a 1 off converion because hes regualy doing them now with a lot of jap boys, and he gives a lifetime warranty and not yet had one come back.

I was looking at one for mine but chose against it in the end, they look cool and would look perfect on your car, if you get onto the American Merkuer sites they are very big at this and will give you loads of info
