Default Renewing expired licence

Mrs has just informed me that her licence is due to expire ( I don't think she should have one anyway, but thats another story!)

Popped on to DVLA's site, but couldn't find out how to do it etc? Presumably it won't cost? Ain't her fault they only last 10 years!

That's outrageous! Once upon a time a paper licence lasted till you were 70, now because they want photocards, we have to pay every 10 years!

HHHMMMPPPPHHHHH!

Yeah mate, and after a bit more digging, it costs Ł20 to renew and if you don't, your licence is still valid, but you risk a fine of Ł1000!

ive also heard stories of renewed licences coming back with some of the previous driving entitlements missing and have been advised to photocopy my old card before sending it back.
