Generally if anything gets damaged its a warped head, dont think its been measured yet though to see if it was effected or not.

I wouldnt be surpised given how quickly mark seemed to catch it, if it wasnt damaged as it wouldnt have had much time for heat build up, but then again at that sort of level of tune, it doenst take long.

Is there nothing that can work better than a WRC gasket? I realise the demand for a gasket of this level would be pretty low, but in theory is there a better design/material that could be used?

There are other solutions used in racing, like rings, but TBH none of them tend to be suited to a high milage (relatively speaking compared to a rallycross car) road car as well as the WRC one, so keeping just within the confines of what that gasket can cope with makes sense.

TBH on pump fuel its not really an issue as you'll generally get det before you get enough pressure to make the gasket fail.

Incredible results

Impressive spool up for such a large turbo
Is it the Autronic boost control that does this?
Would it be possible to achive boost that early with any other boost control equipment?

No nos to help it start reving?

The boost control has very little to do with it other than limit the boost,
Its the total package that makes it work, Its easy to get it wrong and very difficult to get it right,
You could use other makes of controlers to get the same result,
No nos on this engine and it wont run it as we have more than enough power to brake the gearbox

It would have been even better if I would have tweaked it a bit more but as it was between 1.94 to 1.99bar thats all that was needed.

And so it should be, Mark invested nearly twenty seconds of his time entering the values for it.

It can do a LOT better than that mate, that was literally just to get it into the right ballpark.

In the car it can also be set so that you get boost based on throttle angle, which can make it VERY easy to drive, even with such monster power, none of the normal cossie problems of you give it 25% throttle and once its spooled you get full boost anyway!

The boost control on SM4 is just superb!
