Would You...
Just been wondering, seeing as there have been a few posts regarding theft and stuff recently, how many of you would do what I did earlier on today.
I'd been doing a bit of work on my Escort, which currently has no engine or anything really, virtually just a rolling shell. It lives in my garage at home, and I pushed the front half of it out earlier to make it easier to work on half on the drive. Then I popped out for about an hour and left the car where it was, 3/4 outside the garage, the back 1/4 still in, garage door open, full of quite valuable car parts (several panels, new morettes, various stereo itmes such as a couple of new amps, subs, loads of speakers, in-car DVD player and screens, couple of stainless exhausts, couple of wiring looms, all my tools etc etc etc, you get the idea) and thought nothing of it.
How many of you would feel comfortable doing that? Or would you feel you had to put everything back and lock the whole place up?
Just out of interest.

Yeah, you see it just seems like too much faffing around to put it all back and lock up. Obviously if I'd have thought some of my stuff may get nicked I'd go through the trouble, but as I wouldn't expect anything to be nicked, it doesn't seem worth the effort.

well when i lived in wolverhampton, i didnt even like leaving the car on the driveway with a shit hot clifford alarm on it let alone anything else, cause i lived in a fairly rought part full of thieving chavs, then i moved to a nice quite part of Telford and got a garage and carport and i often leave the garage door open with all my stuff in it cause i feel safe where i live. the only thing i find in there now is the neighbours cat, lol

i will leave tools etc out on the drive but ill make a bit of an effort to put them under the van or out of sight, although i have left a full snap on box of tools in the back of the pickup on the drive before overnight, purely because i was to knakered to move it

I'd be happy leaving the garage open, brother wouldn't as their is 4k's worth of fishing equipment And to make it worse he's still shit at it
Edit to add we live in a close with a couple a nosey neighbour and a retired engineer who is always in the garage.

I live in a nice area where the average age is 60 ish! I reckon my neighbours are nosey enough to spot someone being suspicious but wether or not they'd actually do something about it I don't know and then add to that the possibility the police may not even show I always try and remember to lock everything away. At the end of the day if it isn't locked it isn't insured.
A couple of times I have forgotten though but that is only because my girlfriend is either moaning at me or I'm just having a bad day.
