Default Uh oh - Petrol in Diesel - misfuelled

Not me that's done it, a friend has put petrol in instead of diesel, then driven, he says, 50yds, (I say more as its cut out) before pulling over. The car has been recovered back to his so now we're wondering what's involved with sorting this? Obviously drain the tank, lines, new filter, and what else? I'm assuming that as it died its done some damage? Its a 2001 Galaxy 1.9tdi, is this a relatively easy fix a few of us can manage on his drive, or is it best left to those with the right tools etc.
Over to you...

If there's a feed pump in the tank try and get a live to it to pump it all out. If not get a sucker pump and do it the hard way! Once you think it's all out, put a couple of litres of diesel in and pump/suck that out to clean the lines ready for new diesel. I'd then brim the tank full to "water" down any remaining petrol and before you fit the new fuel filter buy a diesel treatment that you usually put in the tank and pour it into the filter. Half full will do then put the rest in the tank. I've done a few misfuels at work and wether normal or common rail it's never caused any damage in my experience. Might be worth checking the oil just incase the petrol has "watered" it down but I doubt it. Good luck!
