Phew, I knew there had to be someone else worse off then me

The very first 'computer' game we had was a Pong machine that my next door neighbour had built from a kit. Me and my brother would play it for hours, when we where allowed use of the 1 and only tv set in our house! A Black and white rented unit of course!!

Another thing springs to mnd, about 5 years ago I went through all my old vinyl that was in the loft, sorting out what I had as mp3's and what needed to be found or transfered, and my daughter who was 13 at the time asked me what they where!!

She had never seen vinyl records before. Having been born in 1991 she grew up with CD's. When I told her they played music she was amazed!! I did feel my age that day!

i remember in the old days that to call anyone in our village or the surrounding ones, you only had to dial 3 digits (and i mean dial, with the old whirring phone dial, not type on a keypad)

I think Nuttin Rilla is pretty much bang on!

I couldn't live without a mobile or t'internet that's for sure.

I got my first mobile in 1998 when asda were doing cellnet PAYG for the first time! I bought it so i could call people back if they paged my pager

I think back to days before that phone when we were 17/18 and organising a night out on the town. It all had to be planned via landlines. None of this txt when you're heading out nonsense i honestly don't think we'd cope without them now.

I started uni in 1997 and they had the net available maybe 98/99 and it was 99 i started usin it and got involved with the RSBB etc. I used to lend out my pass to let mates get in to use the net at the 24hr comp building

I was a little shit, going to house parties getting drunk, coming in at silly o'clock. We've had the internet since about 1999/2000, so I was only 15/16.

Made some good mates from the internet, got into trouble, fucked a fair few women and just generally love it. Don't get much time though to come on lately.

can you imagine now not being able to get almost instant help with things, like cars etc, like the way we just ask for help on here....

We was never at home, always wandering about somewhere getting into trouble with the Police and escorted home Now I would receive an Asbo

My first phone was 1992-93 iirc and made by Amstrad. Could dial calls and nothing more with the green screen Even adding people in contacts took 10-15mins

My Dad brought me an Acorn PC. Was fucking useless as there was no software available for it that we could afford. Printed everything on the dot matrix in black and white. Sounded like a machine gun
LOL! Scarilly similar! Most of the time was out on the bike or playing football at the local school fields. Never home, always out and somehow always knew the time to be home with no watch or phone.

My dad used to bring the Acorn PC's home during the school holidays (was a teacher) as break in's were common. I learnt to use them back when they were bought with Tesco's vouchers.

I had a Commodore Vic 20 in the 80's (mates had the 64 so I was the poor kid!) but was seldom allowed to play it on the TV incase it broke the TV. I then had an old Tandy computer with built in green computer screen and a phone book size manual to program my own games. Floppy disks were huge! Took 2 people to carry the computer! I then had the usual Sega Master System II and Playstation. Have now owned all current consoles and bought myself a Master System II and Mega Drive for old time sake.

Internet came along in 97 with my parents but we had to organise phone calls around Internet use and dad would be sat there tapping his watch!

It is an awesome tool but always cross check your findings with as many sources as possible and still treat with a grain of salt. If it was 100% factual it would be perfect but we can live in hope....

The internet is the best invention ever imo. Aside from the fundementals, light, electricity etc.

I love it, if someone asks me to name one thing i couldnt do without, it'd be the net.

Not sure what year we got it in, but our first computer had an internal 28k modem, a Packard Bell, it cost over £2k at the time i'm sure so it must have been pretty good then. I remember the day my dad got it home and set it all up too.

Remember arranging net use around phone calls also remember the first time i used a chatroom, with my mum sitting, literally on the same chair, she was just as interested as me, or maybe she wanted to make sure i wasn't being groomed?

Funny stuff but i love the internet, it's great.
