i didnt start using the internet until late 2005. i still dont trust it with my details to shop online since i seen how easy it is for my mate to get folks details.
i still prefer getting of my fat arse and going to the real shops.
i use it for porn, cars and keeping in touch with my dad in australia.

I remember when I started working on mags about 12 years ago, and only the Editor was allowed to have the internet! We spent all day on the phone, and had to take all the pictures we wanted to use (none of this online picture libraries nonsense!). We then had to wait for three days for them to turn the film into color trannies, then get a designer to scan them in, then have them scanned in again on a big drum scanner! Now we just jump online, type in a few words, grab a pic and it's done!

Porn meant a ruck of adolescent lads huddled round an old copy of Razzle which your mate had hidden under a bush and was rain soaked, but was still the most exciting thing you've ever seen when you're 12yrs old.
So yeah, internet = porn.

I remember my first ever e-mail address was something like 289624632786596754687625@compuserve.com or something like that!

And used to have to type in numerical codes for most websites insteas of www.whatever.org etc

1994 we got the internet, and very few people we knew got it until a few good years later. In those days it took an absolute age to load up each page, I'm talking several minutes for the most simple of pages! And it cost a ridiculous amount per minute! Thank fook things have progressed pretty quickly!

It is just mad to think about not having the net and mobiles

remember my dad buying a Ł1700 time pc, and having a 9.6k modem built in which was mega special

phone bill cost a fair bit,

then got a 28k modem, think it was 3p per min in the day and 1p after 6pm, got doom then and the online play was shocking, used to think this will never catch on

then 56k, which was mega quick about the time of the twin speed cd rom

got my 1st mobile in 94/5 was 14! no pay as you go crap, one2one contract in my mums name ( had a good paying weekend job ), free eves and wkd, but only worked inside the m25

9600! You flash bastard My bro had a 1200bps modem, and upgraded to a 2400 when he started his own BBS.

But while he was a SYSOP (how geeky!) I was busy searching for the aforementioned bongo mags under the bushes in the local park!

Absolute truth!! people must have wanted to see what cars were in pretty desperate so that they could be first in to snap up the bargains lol!!

I still got my Amiga in the box and my mega drive with streets of rage!

I remember the days of autotrader and A to Z

Just think how many hours of wasted time I could have saved if we had the net then?

I loved life before it, even tho i only started using it 2004ish.

I had my rs turbo and couldnt give a flying fuck about anything and it didnt miss a beat, i used to change the oil every 2 month for Ł6.50 vauxhall stuff and it sounded great, never a worry in the world, that all went right down hill once i started using forums.

Finding a car to buy was exciting, when you went to look at one down south from out the fast ford mag you knew if you didnt like it you could find the local autotrader and get something anyway, probably better.

Internet is lazy and full of fakes. its a shithole really but we still use it everyday FAITHFULLY, its like smoking you no you were better of without it but you cant stop now.

It has its very usefull points but i much prefered old skool, like when we didnt have mobile phones and yet there was still 10 to 15 of us every night without fail kicking a water logged mitre delta about

Children are fucked tbo, their never going to no the good life, just the fake bebo, facebook, msn shite you have on the web

Im glad i at least tasted the "real" life for most of my growing up

To fuck with the internet, im away to watch a 70`s porn on my vhs

Well this is going back even further! A couple of us clubbed our paper round money and brought a Prisim VTX2000, iirc, modem for the ZX Spectrum and we used to dial up Prestel which was the BT owned BBS to view what you could then get on teletext!

The modem was over Ł100 and the phone cost about 10p/m plus the subs to Prestel!!

Plus with interface one you could have a LAN game! This was back in 83-84 and I think the only game we had that could be played over a lan was Delta Wing

Might have been Micronet, bugger, memory not as good as it was.......

Copying games tape to tape on the good old twin deck amstrad

We used to play Bamboozal on teletext for games

We used to go exploring down the local river (Like on 28 days later website), go on trains all over the place and go on bike rides, etc with me mates. Being envious of me mate as they had Sky and watched the Simpsons @ 6pm leaviing us bored outside

We was never at home, always wandering about somewhere getting into trouble with the Police and escorted home Now I would receive an Asbo

My first phone was 1992-93 iirc and made by Amstrad. Could dial calls and nothing more with the green screen Even adding people in contacts took 10-15mins

My Dad brought me an Acorn PC. Was fucking useless as there was no software available for it that we could afford. Printed everything on the dot matrix in black and white. Sounded like a machine gun

I can just remember life before the net - seems very carefree thinking back now...

I can also remember struggling to decide which was more rewarding for my budget on my first computer.

Did i get Windows 95 but only 4MB RAM or keep on Windows 3.11 with 8MB RAM
