Default Insurance, advice!!!! (please)

Just wondering if this seems steep to you guys?

Ok, just got my first car, mint mk2 fiesta 1.1 (lol)

My dad has just tried to insure it, under his name with me as a named driver... So that i can learn to drive in it like

£650!!!!

For me to be a named driver?

On my dads insurance?

And hes had a NCB for like 26 years...

I know all the usual 'im a high risk' bollocks, but was expecting a lot less than that!

Do you think its worth it, or shall i just keep it in tha garage and pay an instructor to teach me?

Any advice would be apreciated chaps!

Shit aint it, BUT we all had to put up with prices like that when first starting out.

Keep your nose clean, get your own insurance asap and start building up your no-claims.

Could be worse

I have 9 years NCB and used that to insure my E39 540i Sport (I'm 26) - that cost me £540 fully comp with upto 15000 miles, £150 excess blah blah blah.

That is parked in the garage to be used for pleasure, for my daily hack I have a V reg 1.8TD escort - propper heap of junk and it cost £350 to buy - but the insurance is £620 tpft as all my NCB is on the BMW

Go figure

However, buying and insuring the escunt was still cheaper than having to buy a new mirror from BMW as someone cunted it in the carpark at work 2 weeks ago

Ok cool. My advice would be go on your own policy. Best way to build up a decent no claims bonus and also help you insure more powerful cars in the future.

theyre not stupid. insurance companies know your going to be the main driver and not your dad so the premium quoted reflects this. its a right coont when your young.
