Default Unit Security

Just started renting a unit for the escorts last weekend but have been recently told by people who rent there that the little scum bags keep breaking into the unit.

Anyone suggest some decent security? i.e Indestructable padlocks? were gonna put drop bolts in the shutter with a bar accross and maybe set up some trap doors and stuff. Appreciate if anyone knows of any good security devices!!!

Ha, I did think of sticking the Staffy in there but I'd never leave it on its own overnight. Plus after that story in the Sun today about that lad who hung his dog - whos knows what they'd do to it if they managed to trap it.

How much good would an alarm do? Probably nobody who will hear or care near an industrial unit.....

As you said, some strong bolts + locks to stop people getting in; and some removable/droppable bollards/posts to stop people taking the car - always have one centrally to stop people ram-raiding (although can reverse to avoid damaging radiator - big bar across the shutter and bumper height sorts that one out).

you have a dedicated phoneline hooked up to the alarm
if it goes off, plod come double quick time

but you have to cove the cost of the rental and stuff so it's not worth it if you don't have a lot worth nicking and can't afford it

if you have up and over shutters then bollards to stop ram raiding would work but you've have to have them both inside and outside the shutters
if you have a sliding door with the scissor action straps, just put some bars across and secure them, no WAY that doors going to get pushed open and it's easier to break it

but by far the best method would be to have lots of bright visable secutiry to deter them in the first place

also, think of the walls, there was a unit round the corner where they simply used a sledge hammer to break some of the blocks through to gain access and steal loads of stuff

and the GSM bit (you can have it with or without) means there's also a mobile signal transmitted from it too, so if thieves cut your phonelines, or the phonelines aren't functioning for any other reason, the alerts will still be sent.
