ohh i take it these div 1 rallycross cars are slow as fuck eh chip ,
i mean what with all the areoquip , polished compressor housings, painted inlets ,
what about the cracking of the welds ??arrgrgghhhh
or let me guess,
there 50 k motors ,
you pay extra to have it looking nice ,
what a fucking joke ,
and and for the haters , last time i checked andys was a track orentated car , not a rallycross ,so how the fuck is his engine going to get all batterd and dirty blatting round track ?
ill still 10000% stick by my comments , regardless of what you lot say ,
that engine could of been mate 100 times more presentable , for a new engine build
end of ,
good luck in ta andy ,

lets just remember some facts:
1 - Andy was not the one that mentioned Ł45K - what if the engine was sub Ł15K or even sub Ł10K.....??
2 - There is still another 10 days before the car's first outing with this engine - I would guess that it will look different from the picture he put up the other day.
3 - While looks are important-ish, getting it fitted, plumbed in and running is the priority, along with the 5 race cars either in or booked in for work over the next 10 days.
4 - Along with everthing else, he is a single dad to Rosie and Jim - both need a lot of attention, as anyone that knows them will know.....
5 - Who really cares what it looks like esp when the bonnet is down - the test will be how it performs round the track....

from what I gather andy got the engine for a lot less than it would have cost if hed commissioned it.
its been lying a while since dyno and isnt as such new, hence the rusty fasteners
Andy has a habit of turning shit into gold.
he needed an engine for the first race and his ended up late so this is a last ditch solution.

im with beefy.....the welds, particularly on the injector plate look shocking. Power is first and foremost and certainly ticks all the right boxes, so its obviously working But come on, some parts of that build look ropey as hell. Im no specialist, but i am an engineer and that kind of craftmanship wouldnt be acceptable where i work. The money that's been mentioned is a hell of a lot, so i would want everything perfect for that kind of money!!
Good luck in TA this year tho andy mate, where you hoping to achieve mate??

This topic is just a pile of wank.
Andy just posted up his nice 800bhp engine that he is going to use to go fast in T/A.
If you read it through, its just a bunch of arguing about whether people like the welding or the paint/powdering coating (or lack of).
Great.

No Steven l think it is people debating that fact that they think for the money spent it should look better, we are all allowed our opinion, somebody asked a question and somebody answered, it is a group of people talking about it, apart from the odd ignorant and sarcastic comment thats all it is

Yeah - maybe it looks that way to you, but to me it just looks like the usual PF crap. Just getting caught up in trying to prove each other wrong. Typical car rubbish. If you buy a car for 20k, you always get told u were ripped and so and so's mate got one cheaper etc. Might just be me, but it feels like most of the chat is pointless. Plus, why rod didn't just put the graph up, I don't know. It might be to stop it looking like he is saying his is better, but it doesn't quite read that way. Plus getting into the fact the MAD engine looks better built is also pointless.
Maybe to you its just a regular topic.

It's just a regular topic on PF yes, l can not answer why Rod never posted the graphs l merely asked a question regarding it's spec. I dont recall reading anywhere about MAD engines being better built, maybe they look a better finished product with regards appearance

im deffo not knocking andy , he bought it for the power end of , and i know he hasnt mentiond a price tag ,
but going on the assumption that tony ( touringcarspares ) is familair wigh jg's handwork and commented the figure of 45 k ,
i was meerly saying that i would of expected a higher level of finish thats all ,
then all the haters jumped on and well the debate got started .
and thats it ,
i just see andys car as a rolling advertisment for his company , and whilst you may not see it when flying round track , the car is genrally on display witrh his bonnet up, and you would think the over all package would look s1 as the old engine did ?
i know right now andys priority is up running and racing ,
im just saying may opinon is what it is ?

fucking get real ,
theres no way my car will be stage one , and when my cars built,
the overall package will be clean and well presented
that goes for the engine bay too,
have a nice day

you would need to take an engine from someone and let everyone else dyno it,, but then how would you know they hadn't tweaked the calibration on the dyno??
from my experience harveys engines have always performed better than other engines that are said to have more power

yip you can even put it in auto mode just set rpm for down shift and up shift..thou you still click paddle for down shift but it wont change down till the rpm has dropped below the set value,, so going up the straight coming to a hairpin you can click down say 4 gears the it will only change down when the rpm has dropped,, and it blips the throttle for you!!
This is so cool

You not going for it tho?

spoke to them and they say my linear plunger type gear position indicator is not accurate enough, they ony like the rotray type,, got the flat change on it and tried it out last week and not sure if i'm into it yet,, see how that goes first

maybe he will build me one in the future,, always liked harvey for engines would find it hard to use someone else,, acording to any good engine producer all the rest are shit and dynos tell lies, so how would you ever know??

Why do you not build your own engines? you obviously have an huge amount of engineering skill?

Not really sure what the implication is there? Seems to be that Mark's engines would be reliable?
Other than having a couple of turkish blocks supplied to him by cosworth, which I think ALL the big tuners have (I know JG has had a few of the fail for example) I would have thought Mark's engines are viewed as fairly indestructable.
So its very weird reading something that seems to imply they would only last a lap, havent you seen people like Kev Atkins in time attack on MAD engines?

I'll await another 15 line barrage of abuse about how stupid a comment like mine with no knowledge on the dream MAD camp is pathetic.
How's Rods engine done the last few times on the Dyno

To answer your question:
Last time on the dyno Rod's engine made 838bhp and 666lbft of torque, a new record for a UK roadgoing YB as far as im aware.
The time before that, Mark was experimenting with a new head gasket design and it blew that gasket, so Mark has stuck with the proven WRC one for all his customer YB's as after testing the other one he decided it was inferior (this is called R&D if you are too thick to understand that concept )
And IIRC the time before that he had a turkish block fail on him, something all the top YB tuners around the world will have experienced having trusted that buying a block new from Cosworth themselves it should be good.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Chip as far as you are up Mark's arse you will have to admit an engine built for rallycross will be different to Rod's built to last 2 miles?
