Default can brass be welded to stainless

need to weld my EGT bung to my downpipe ive just found a brass boss for 1/8 NPT as i cant find a stainless one on ebay anywere

Brass would probably melt !

You might be able to braze it in or silver solder it but that would melt too, try and find a stainless fitting.

Why not goto your local nut + bolt specialist and see if they have what you need in stock?

Failing that, you could use a 1/8" BSP nut in stainless - this is a very very similar thread to NPT and if putting an NPT fitting into a BSP threded hole then the fit is snug and secure

didnt know that as i was looking at nuts but couldnt find any in 1/8 npt but loads in bsp

a thick type bicylcle valve is also very close to 1/8 bsp / npt

hi,think npt is very similar to bspt(t meaning tapered thread)bsp is parallel thread,i've an 1/8th npt and 1/4 npt taps if you need a shot,was just a thought you might 1/4 npt to 1/8th npt stainless fitting,will have a look see what tapered fitting i have,maybe some use to you,col93saphcos

have a look at website called egt from america they do the best egt sensors and sell all sorts of hardware for different type sensors and are very helpful guys
