Default My service book is fake!!

Just booked the car in at vw for a service tomorrow, and they quoted me £295 cos it's near there 100k service, just looked through my service book and noticed that it recently had a cambelt / water pump change and a full service so though thats good it will only be cheap.

Rang the vw garage that carried out the work (5 stamps in my book from 64k up 88k) and they told me the car has never been serviced with them!! rang vw HQ who also told me the same but said to ring the service manager, so i do, who tells me that they sound like fraudelnt stamps and if i said the service book into him he will clarify!!!

could be a relative who worked there, ie the last owners brother was a mechanic, did the work, stamped the book, just never went through the works computer

My new Cossie has "excluding Cosworth" on the front of the service book, doesn't bother me, figured it's more likely to be a dealer mistake than anything else.

Next owner won't know, whatever it turns out to be, so that's the main thing - resale value.

I wouldn't jump the gun too much mate, i guess it's a pisser if it's not on the database, but like already stated above, may have been done after hours and just stamped up later. I know LOADS of folk who do this.

Did you buy the car from the midlands?

Seriously when i was looking for half about motor the amount of VW and Audi's that have been clock is unreal! And not to sound bad, but most of them wear Asian sellers. What i used to do is phone VW or Audi direct as most of car manufacturers have central data bases which you can double check history ties up. I always do this when buying a car now to vierfy mileage and history as to easy to fake.
