It's a V-Reg, so too late to be a genuine Mexico.

And curious to discover exactly what model it was, I ran a check and it's an Escort Popular Automatic in Gold!

Looks very well indeed though!

Ed - It certainly is, we've had some nice weather so its not had a chance to get filthy really Going to treat it to another polish tomorrow to build the layers up a bit - might try that super dooper wax that came with the clay kit and see who I get on with it

Erhem...I had a genuine RS Mexico bought from Mike Youngs garage that was a V reg (late registered but a genuine Mexico). Sadly I totalled it when I hit a taxi at 110mph

Must have been lying around a while! Production stopped a good 18 months before the V-Plates were released. I've never seen one past an S before

my mates a mk 2 mexico guru and has hada few of them and they were brick slow unless you popped a 2.0 ltr donkey in, i have never seen a v regger before unless it was a very early import that went on a current reg and not age related, i used to see x,y and even a a reg rs2000 mk2 bitd.

the only v plate mk2 mex's i ever saw were look a likeys but thats not to say there wasn't any though.

if anyone wants a original mk2 mexico engine minus alloy bits and carb my mate has one in his garage.

looks nice ,but i thaught that you could not have a reg plate newer than the manufacture date of the car it self,im pretty sure (w )was the absolute last of the mk2,s .iirc.

no matey, i remember seeing x reggers that were unsold due to certain ford dealers not discounting them because the new mk3 xr3 came out on a w reg also. the y reg and a reg mk2's i saw were imports that at the time down the dvla were chucked on the current reg plate ie. x or y or the new a reg, remember this the good old q plate came from nowhere and then fizzled out,i used to see 50's,60's,70's cars on 80's reg plates back in the late 80's because the dvla were awkward and a bit useless, they still are as i found out this week even. they did introduce a law that could put old classics back on age related plates as not to make them look dodgy.
