'White People Caused The Credit Crunch'
#43
I would say its racist based on that definition he's attaching negative connotations to a racial group to make them look worse than another racial group
Since when was the credit crunch defined by white or Black people?????
It's just as bad as saying "I blame all the black monkey fuckers for AIDS"
Racism only works one way in our stupid society

Nope, no 'connotations' attached to a particular racial group in his statement. He simply said white people did something. he is not saying they are better or worse than any other. Reporting a subjective view of a general observation is not racism.
For example...
If I went to the supermarket and saw a group of 10 guys buying Wham Bars, and 9 of them were black would my statement that 'the black people bought all the Wham Bars' be racist? No, because I was merely reporting an general observation.
Race is not a factor used to deliniate between people anymore anyhow, as there are not enough physiological differences between people of different ethnicities to classify people as anything other than a race of humans...Ethnicity is now used instead of race as this includes cultural, spiritual, physical, societial and geographical influences upon a persons heretige (sp), making them who they are and helping us to move away from generalisations such as 'all white people' or 'all indians' etc...
Agreed that insulting 'racial' generalisations appear only to be defined as racist when they are directed at those who do not have Western European ethnicity (or white --> black to put it simply). However, jumping on a semi-factual statement made by someone and screaming that it is racist simply because the word 'white' was used is ill-informed at best and does the anti-political correctness cause no good at all.
I also believe the actual words he used were 'blonde, blue-eyed people' not 'white' (although it is obvious that he meant people of Western European ethnicity).
I am of Anglo-Saxon decent and of British ethnicity. This describes my ancestry, my culture, my heritige, my societeal norms, my historical perspective and describes me much better than just 'white british'. It makes no assumptions of my skin colour or my religion, neither of which could be used against me (and so helping to prevent discrimination).

Lol, i know what would happen if I published some figures at work saying
"All the sites run by Black Managers are making a loss" Possibly factually correct but nevertheless I would get the sack because the fact they are black has nil bearing on their ability to deliver a profit
The fact he associated the credit crunch with a colour/race is racist, the two are not directly linked.

Does he not have a point. We in the West (predominantly white), have been raised on credit, for the last 40 odd years. Credit for houses, car, credit cards. Who here has no debts? If everyone (including business) saved for everything, then we wouldn't have a problem, no?

This is why i posted it, to see peoples opinions/feelings. personally i didnt take offence to it, i dont think he meant it as a racist remark, i think it was just worded incorrectly, lost in translation, that kind of thing, and as some have already stated, he may actually have a valid point, but a comment like that can be taken out of context for obvious reasons, especially if you cant see past the ' white people ' statement and see the bigger picture. but, as others have already stated, if it was said that blacks caused it, it would/could be taken as a racist remark. political correctness, dont you just love it.

Im currently looking to buy a decent spec cossie powered escort, im actually talking to someone regarding the car I want, I have most of the money already however will have to get a loan for the extra 3k so im not against debt, and would save the rest towards the car if the fella was going to wait.
I simply do not have any at this time, I simply try to live within my means and I think that's the problem many people simply want a lifestyle they can not afford
The fella I responded to simply asked who does not have debt, as if having it was a normal thing, its not for me at 37 years I do not have debt and have not had for the last 18 years, Im also a family man with a missus and a wallet drainer who I do my bit for - I just save towards what I want

hey i agreem i have no real debt as such cause ive got a pound or 2 in the bank but the point i was getting at is time,, most people aint got time to save upfor a escort cossie as it would take them,,in reality the same time as it does to pay off a loan so its a easier option,,,, its fine if you control it but its when you dont and borrow to fix the car then run the car/pay bills ect that you end up in the shite
example, i gave up fucking abotu witb cars for 2 years when my cossie was nicked, i ran my bmw,, no need for a new car as it done the job, cheep to insure blah blah blah
anyway it started getting old, so i went looking for a new car and realised what i ahd mamanged to save up since i no longer had the cossie and so went back down that road again
