Default Attn Weber Sidedraught experts!

Hi dudes,

Prob a daft question but does anyone know what sort of power ceiling 40 DCOE's have before necessitating a switch to 45's?

I have a lovely fresh pair of 40's that I could fit 34mm chokes into, but wondered if I should start with a pair of 45's with what seems like the std fitment 36mm chokes! My carbs are sweet, but I don't want them to be a restriction!

They are going on a track based Pug 205 1700 running 11.5:1 comp, with a fully sorted head, 308 degree cam and a supersprint 4 branch and system. It will rev to 8k, and I am expecting 160 -170 horses from it.

Your advice would be really appreciated

Thanks

Weeksy

think you'd be needing 45's at least if your trying to see 170bhp.

Was gonna say 45's too, as back in the day our high revving Pinto's making 150+ all ran 45/48's after trying 40's iirc

Cant remember any of the chokes sizes etc tho!!

That Pug is going to sound great btw

Thanks for your thoughts fellas, appreciate it.

I always wondered if a 40 with big enough chokes ie 36mm would flow nearly as well as a 45 with the same size choke.

I guess if it did, noone would go for the dearer 45s eh?!

It souded sweet enough as a 1360 with head cam and 40's and went into the 7's and made over 130 horses.
Just wanted to hang on to my 40's as they are fully sorted and sweet!!

Thanks again dudes
