Has anyone got any contacts in this field, as I am trying to source some LF60 steel plate, for a job we are pricing for. I can't find anyone anywhere that can help - I've tried google etc and all the usual steel companies in this country, but to no avail.

Anyone in this industry (like the offshore bods, perhaps engineering peeps contacts?) know where I can find some pretty please!?

Have you tried BSI, they might be able to help you. They have an oil and petro chemical department.

Yep, they were one of the first I tried . Beginning to realise why it is usually made in Holland, no-one does this heat-treated 35mm thick plate in the UK, and I can't find a global supplier on google either .

Justin, I would think that the only thing dangerous about LF60 steel plate 35mm thick is if a sheet of the damn stuff fell on you

I presume that its a steel exceptionally resistant to corrosives ???

try UKF stainless , bassed in brum , may have no isea what u want bit i find that they have all the odd , wiered and wonderfull stuff thet i need for jobs

Still can't find any plate, but managed to find a 20" sch 120 (39mm wall thickness) piece of LF60 tube (there is only one 6.9m length in the whole of the country and it is a mere Ł1,650 + VAT per metre ), but as this is going to be a saddle it is the wrong radius . Back to searching for some plate (to be pressed - as it is too thick to roll) . LF60 is actually a heat treat flange material (quenched and tempered), but as this is going to the petrochem industry in Nigeria, the saddle has to be made of a similar spec material.

Mike, try Anglia Alloys on 01493 651028, and Middleton Heat Treatments on 01502 561721. Could you get some standard plate heat treated to the same spec?

Churchy, no it has to be of this exact spec material, hence the problems . The lengths I go to to keep Dom at bay .

You mean the one that does his special thing on your special thing on your special car that comes from a country far, far away?

If yes, you have to realise that the two pieces of flat that I want will weigh half a ton EACH - can you imagine the carriage from there? .

Mike I went out and spoke to a supplier of the offshore ind. They stock LT60, but aren't too sure of LF60 , do ya mean LF60.

Yes I definitely need it to be LF60 (which is the material type the flanges are made out of - 10" 1500lb RTJ/long weld neck sch 140 - mat LF60 (quenched and tempered)). I think you will find that LT60 will be a different grade, as we have already been offered some LX60, which isn't the correct spec either.

We are quoting to make a saddle for a pipe to enable the a tee to be cut into it without cutting the pipe apart. I just need to source some 35mm thick LT60 (or equivalent, as this is a flange material spec). It isn't subject to particularly high pressures (only 190 bar max, but has to be tested to 285 bar), but due to it's application (oil & gas industry), it must be of this type material.

If I can't find an equivalent spec to LF60, I "may" be able to use P 355 NL1 EN10028-2 as per DIN 17102 with EN 10204-3.1.B certificate (material equivalent to ASTM A 537 class 1) or equivalent.
