Default diff problem again 2wd saph :( uploading vid now

just got home had a 3000 mitsubishi thing wanting to play so thought itd be rude not to blow him away
anyway full thottle loosing traction in 2nd and 3rd but all seemed good. once i started cruising to come home hearing a load whining noise from the diff hasnt failed like the others did just very noisy ?
ive recorded with phone the noise as a vid just uploading it now.anyone any ideas what would cause this whine ?

it doesnt whine when sat at set speed, only whines when gently accelerating then stops as soon as off the throttle. i havnt full throttled it since i heard the noise but tbh i wont hear it whining when im on boost anyways as engine noises are too loud.

If the noise is coming from the diff then maybe a bearing failed or a stripped tooth. I had same problem and it was a stripped tooth from the pinion gear (that didn't stack between tooths since your diff is still running). This results to a whining noise...
I hope that this will help!

Jack the car up and turn the prop backwards and forwards to feel for backlash in the crown wheel and pinion.. if you have play then thats prob why its whining as it will be 'out of mesh', either way though its a case of diff out and sent to the transmission place to be fixed or if its a std diff it might be worth looking for a good replacement.

And if you have a spare diff it would be rude not to send it away and have a quiafe ATB fitted to it.. one of the best mods i've ever done to my car. (the track boys will say get a plated but for fast road use i think quaife is better)

Don't worry.

It probably just means it's knackered and you need a new one
