Default CVH Engine

Hi
I'm new to this site and I was hoping that someone may be able to help.
I have recently restored a Mk 2 XR2 and there is oil coming from the dip stick. He was running it on fully synthetic oil but was told to use just everyday oil and now I have this problem.

Different people are telling me different things, some say it's the oil some say the engine needs a new bottom end.

Help!!!!

Cheers
Pete

does the engine seem to have much back pressure?
if its just been rebuilt then it shouldn't realy
have enough back pressure to blow the cap or oil out the dipstick
could be a breather problem
have these been changed/cleaned etc in the rebuild?

any garage should be able to do that, they basically pump compressed air down th espark plug hole and see if its coming out anywhere, (head gasket, bent/broken valves) in your case, possible knackerd piston rings

comp can still be ok
but if it can get past the rings its fooked
does sound like a dodgy bottom end
i read it wrong the 1st time
i thought the engine had just been rebuilt
just a 16cvh anyhow, nice easy engine build

Some has sed it could be the headgasket if it was pressurising the oil galleries tho it tends to pop the waterways on cvh gaskets
Iv had the head off cuz i had a race cam in but it was s**t so i popped the old one back in and it ran alot better.
So im going down to ford to get one and ill see from there.
Pete.
Ps,Ill let you know how I get on
