Default Avoiding Ebay Fees

I'm going to sell £300 of car parts. I've found a buyer so was going to set up a buy it now. I checked and the ebay fees will come close to £20. Thats taking the piss. What happens if I set up a £1 buy it now with a £299 postage cost? Will ebay still find some way to sting me?

He found me through ebay, the items are on the auction at the moment but i've sorted out a price with him. He wanted me to do a buy it now. I've asked if he'll do it straight through paypal, but if he doesn't want to, I was trying to work out a way of not getting raped via ebay fees.

Paypal will take over £10 off me as it is. They all take the piss these online companys

I always get the buyer to add 4% if paying with PayPal. Personally I like a cheque, or good old pictures of the queen!

Love the way you think that ebay should find you a buyer for your items as a free service

As per lambchop, if you dont like the fees then dont use the site!

I've not found a buyer through ebay for free though. Whatever happens, ebay have had £5 out of me for listing fees on the auctions in the 1st place. Thats more than enough in my opinion. I don't want to give £20 on top of that.

I've got a feeling he will want to go through ebay to buy the goods, some people prefer the 'saftey' of it. I'll ask him on a bank transfer though.

You knew the fees when you listed it, so why did you list it if you think 5 quid is enough?

Don't try and be a smart arse.

It's not all listed on ebay, only some things he's buying are. The fee's for the things listed don't come to that much. They things listed are going to be taken off ebay as he wants me to do a buy it now for everything together.

I've checked, and I do think £20 is taking the piss, hence why i'm looking for a way around it before I list it.

I know your flush with cash but not everyone is. My missus has lost her job and i'm selling stuff for a loss anyway. Trying to find a way to keep as much money in my pocket as possible. Thats no bad thing is it? Ebay have had fucking loads out of me in the past.

another way to screw ebay is to go through the ebay auction normally then claim back your sellers fees by asking the buyer to agree to cancel the transaction., works all the time:P.

i started auction at £1.00 so correct, it was a guaranteed sale.

however the fact one doesn't know what the fee will be untill the end of the auction, is how i got stung

plus piston heads is free, and auto traders basic is £15.

I dont sell much on ebay but surely it is either a percentage of what it sells for at the end OR as the price you sell it for goes up the fee you pay moves up into a different bracket, SO surely the fact you have had to "pay" more fees surely a good thing cos it means what you sold went for a good price, maybe higher than you expected cos it certainly seems like you are being asked to pay more than you thought, WHICH if you read their pricing terms it WILL tell you how it works, and by placing an item on there you ARE AGREEING to them terms !!!
