Default HID help

My best mate Jay needs a bit of help as hes getting no response of ZSOC that he normally uses and I wondered if some of you guys could help.

Here are his 2 posts.

Need some help from you HID people, fitting not gone to plan.

I ordered a set of HID's for the track car, came today. Fitted them as per instructions. Everything the way it said. Went to turn them on... No light

I don't get it, because the lights are getting the power for the hi/low beam switcher. You can hear and see it. They are also getting power to side lights and levelers. The only thing that isn't working is the HID bulbs. It can't be a abulb or a ballast as neither are working. It must be something I've done wrong. I thought it maybe earths. The guy from the company i got em from said earth one to the battery and one to the chassis. Well i earthed both to chassis as wire wasn't long enough to get back to neg on batt. Wen it didn't work, it tried extending the wire on one bulb to the neg on the batt to see if that worked, NOPE. The earths must be ok as the wen u take it off then recconnect, you can hear the levellers working Please offer advice if you got any.

Where did you guys earth yours to?

(The engine was running btw when I turned the lights on. )

Thanks
Ok after I found this and read it, I worked out that i has put the sockets into the ballasts the wrong way round http://www.fiestamk6.com/joomla/inde...mods&Itemid=53

the lights now come on, however one comes on and stays on. The other flickers, then goes off straight away. Tried the earth, even earthed the flickering one straight to the battery, and does the same. Anyone got any ideas?
Any response is obviously much appreciated.

Tim and Jay

If its anything like my old mondeo, an aftermarket HID kit was a nightmare on it. When they first switch on, they pull a lot of current, which was far too much for the original wiring to handle. They used to flicker like mad when powering up, and sometimes it used to make the abs warning light come on on the dash, presumeably the 'back EMF' was playing silly buggars with the ecu!

The only way round it was to fit relays and wire them in straight from the battery, then switch the relay from the positive feed from the headlamp switch. It took a lot of buggering about to get them working properly!

Not long after I got them all working, I junked them and stuck with standard uprated halogen bulbs, far easier!
