got retention it wasent in my name and i wasent even the nomanee
i took it to chester local vro and when i bought my ra subaru i wanted to
put it on that
spoke to them ,man on counter said fill cheque in for £25 and send it to dvla ,because retention had run out
he said they would renew it , done exacly that with a note explaining why i wasent on the form etc.
the cheque was cashed ages ago and i received no retention form
i have spoke to dvla and enquired about reg ,they said they carnt give me any details about plate because it wasent in my name ,i tried to explain to no avail
they have told me to get in touch with the person i bought it off,i bought it threw ebay about 2 years ago but cant find anything feedback etc
would a copper be able to get me the adress and details of who owns it ?
any ideas

get in touch with ebay, see if they can trace the transaction details.

give me the reg and i can find out what car its on, if its not on a car then its DVLA, copper cant even check these days as its not as simple to do them and if it aint on a car then they cant find the owner

i find DVLA are cunts for helping out, i had a situation with them with my plate when the car was nicked, told me that i have to wait a year and i still might not get the plate back blah blah blah
when a year was up i told them i dont have the tax disc or MOT as it ran out after it was nicked also the car wasnt insured as i bought another car and was selling it and was told " sorry you cant do it then" but i ignored them and applied with a letter explaining why

then i got a call saying " all i need is a letter off your insurance saying they dont have any interest in the plate for there records to make it official",,, so i done that and got my plate back

just apply in writing explaining it, though dvla are cunts with plates

if you were not the nominee or the grantee you have just repaid the 25 pound yearly fee, the new certificate would of been sent back to the grantee on the cetificate you need to go see them, they need to send it off adding you as nominee, it will then get sent back to them again and they will then forward it to you

Did the same to me 8 years ago , had A1 8RAD on my calibra and put it on retention when i sold the car , missed my retention renewal date by 12 days and the dvla sold it ! good luck getting anything out of them , they really are the biggest bunch of government funded robbing cunts on the planet .

you should of kept details of who it came off ....it says whos name its in ...address..and previous car i think ...if not unlucky the guy you bought it off got it back for free ive transferred loads of these , dvla are tw**s and will try and catch you out, very unhelpfull bunch of gits ever ..and when the car it ten years or over they can request to inspect the donor car you want number off......hope you get it sorted

i sent it there and then in chester ,internal post
man dident say to keep owners name and details ,and i never gave it a thought
