some of those clever japanese have their plates on spring assisted hinges, so when you speed, the wind force or whatever it is pushes them down and makes them unreadable from cameras.

Sod the state of the plates, its the state of the cars thats the problem! Obviously its cool to have stupid looking wheels/tyres with ridiculous camber over there.

Because they're Bozoku cars, and the whole idea of the 'scene' is to be as anti-establishment as possible!

I did that on my old Twin Turbo Supra, fixed 2 standard door hinges to the inside of the front bumper opening and to the top of the number plate, it worked ok until the hinges got rusty.

"Bozuku" apparently only applies to the bikes. But the idea is the same. It's kind of like their version of Rat look.

Some look brilliant.

Not really, they are self aware of the styling being a bit mad. The idiots who ruin their Corsas and Puntos think they look great.

Yes. Tyre tread inside wheel arches.

Though I would be very worried of a small child ran into the exposed edge of the long bonnets. Surely someone should do something about that. If it saves one life it'll be worth the insurance premiums going up!
