ALL road going 3drs/rs500 were made in 86 IIRC

well when i want the cars imported into Australia i ahve to get a permit from the government and i stated the cars were 86 and gave the chassis number etc, they cross checked the chassis on there system and it stated that the cars were built in 1984
Both were D reg, i knwo they were registred in 86.

well obviously their system is wrong OR the cars are reshelled into a 1.6 shell and have been rung.

i think there system is wrong as when i decoded the vins i got the results as being built in 86. I wrote to them to make the changes and they said there system was right and they were in fact 84 builds.

I've checked a book by Graham Robson. He wrote that all 3door Cosworth's have been build in 86. They produced the cars like madmen to get them ready in time. The RS500's haven been produced at the same time and then later moved to Tickford.

exactly that !!! the last 500 on the production line went to tickford
rs500s were all built as 3drs thats why rs500 dosn't say rs500 on the log book it just says 3door sierra cosworth
the GG chassis numbers is the only way to tell a gen rs500 from a copy some normal 3dr's are on GG chassis number aswell
