Its official...
Deal was completed Monday morning for the sale of Somerfield to the Co-op. We had an emergency conference call at 8am and we could not speak to any press

Well, today been to ICC today in birmingham for our meeting along with all 900 Somerfield Managers and all i can say is wow!!!
The business is so financially secure its unreal. Check this out

CO-OP SPENT £200M REFITTING 700 STORES LAST YEAR
CO-OP SPENDING £500M ON REFITTING 200 STORES THIS YEAR AND DOUBLE NEXT YEAR
CO-OP SPENDING £500M ON FINGERPRINT CLOCKING IN/OUT SYSTEM

didn't you say the same thing about some sports shop you worked for, which turned out to be shit after like 1 month?
As for their "goals" (which also reminds me of that sports shop)....they ALL say that, doesn't mean it will happen or even come close.
I don't know hardly anyone who shops at Co-Op.
But anyway, not sure the purpose of the thread but glad ur happy for them.

its because apprently there are so many foreigners working at the DC who are fiddlig the system ie king unga bunga is like ten people etc etc
Sportsworld was shit tbh, but at least in Somefield ive doen 6 months lol as opposed to 6 weeks in Sportsworld.

not wanting to burst your bubble, but as an example, the company I work for, was bought out by the fastest growing aerospace company in the country, expected turnover this year was predicted to be 70 mill, we will be lucky if we hit 11, 30 redundecies, plus 19 people on short time.

The local Somerfield has been sold straight on to Sainsburys.
Since the store opened 10-15 years ago it's been a Presto, then taken over and rebranded as Safeway, sold to Somerfield and now the Co-op has bought it and immediately punted it to Sainsburys!

When Tetrosyl/Carplan bought Motorworld last year we were all told how great the future was......
Six months later Motorworld Ltd goes under, get mysteriously bought out by Pacific Retail (Also owned by Tetrosyl?carplan/Maccess) We were told the future would be bright and rosy....
Another six months on and Motorworld are down to around 75 stores now as opposed to the 245 it had a year before and closing shops everyday, and I only found out I was being fucked off when the skip hire company phoned my branch and asked where i wanted the skip for the shutdown
Good luck in your job mate, but seriously, dont fall into the trap of beieving all the bollocks that the head office bods will spout to try and motivate you, as that it ALL they are doing...Motivating you.

If tesco really wanted to save motorwold they would have.. Motorworld was just a peice in a puzzle for them! Obviously Tesco had other ideas for Motorworld and do things for a reason.

thats great the co-op dont like the people i work for and we do somerfields so that means we will lose the contract i think thats the best news ive heard all day
