cant you get someone in the know to have a good look before you blow a gasket yourself as its such a nice motor and looks under the bonnet, your probably thinking the worst due to what happened before.

i fitted the same size piston as before, the same size as the rest,

i assumed it would be ok, with a light hone on the bore, and didnt really think to much of it tbh fail me

well must be internal like you say then, we had a zvh that lost all comp on one cylinder and after sripping, it was a valve head broken off, ruined the head and chipped the bore, we sourced another head, piston and rod, gave it a light hone and re-assembled it with no issues, so maybe it depends on how much you honed it.

What did you gap the rings to and set the bore clearance to.

If you set it to the turbo size this is correct.

in fairness, your not potentially doing 20k miles a year in a saff which has no suspension, you cant leave anywhere, breaks all to often, and is now the most impracticle car i have ever owned...

so its going

its just not what i want anymore, i dont have the time or enthusiasm to keep working on it just to keep it on the road

comfy, gadget loaded, 400bhp, v8, 180mph, rwd, will do me just fine.
get in, turn key, go

your right mate in the fact that doing 20k in a saff with zero suspension is not a lot of fun.i certainly wouldn,t do it either ,my two saffs are for second car use only and as a every day car i drive volvo diesel

I gave up on fast road cars over 10 years ago now, im talking the cosworth variety, but i still to this day would not own anything 'fast road' as there are no compromises between fast, comfy, and nice to drive v economical enough for the daily drive. and i certainly would never own a bmw. hence having rally cars, if it breaks i dont need it monday morning, and they can be reliable, even when driven hard.

you have ruined the car yourself, and i think you regret it now, so break it, its just a car, get your money back and enjoy it ! (just not on a bmw )
