Truly gutted mate. Maybe leave it a couple of weeks before you make the decision to bust it.

Is it not a mapping issue or something like that????

I think your clutching at straws thinking/hoping something is wrong with the bore and that is causing the problem. Sounds like you really want an M5.
I'd identify the problem first then see wether or not you can be arsed to fix it before breaking.
To do a plug like that on over run it would have to be fuelling......a fair fucking bit, sure its no just a weeping injector?
Wonder is Stu can tweak a chip to trim over run fuel on that 1 cylinder, proper bodge though.

I know where you are right now, ive been there about 4 times in the last 9 years ive had my escort, but every time i drive the car i´m glad i dident sell it or break it.
But it´s your mind, but you will regret buying an m5 as you cant do to that what you have done to the sierra.
You have the car just as you want it now, and it´s gonne be HARD WORK to get another like that again if you regret the sale.
I normally leave it for some months, go and look at it, and then i think of the good times and normally that gets me going again.
I spent 4 years trying to get a management system to work properly, and almost gave up but in the end it worked out just as i wanted it.
So keep it, but put it away for some months is my solution

jtech it must be something silly, you said problem with the bore, how can it be if comp tests come back all the same, I doubt a small bit of imperfection in the bore if any would cause an irregular combustion in that chamber making it rich, has it been looked at or mapped properly yet ?

ive swapped injectors, it still has an issue on no 2....

ive swapped leads, it still has an issue on no 2...

i left it running for 20mins on the spot today, and i can hear something nasty when it gets hot now, im 99% sure its a piston/bore issue,

i dont think its overfuelling tbh, i just dont think its burning it off, it does now have a miss at certain rpm

a compression test doesnt really give an accurate reading of the compression above cranking speed lol
