My gearbox is leaking and I need to replace the gaskets in it. Ive not taken it out yet, but was wondering whether I will need any special tools of pullers to remove the casing? Can anyone help? Its a 5 speed box from 1985 Xr3i engine. Cheers

the cork gasket at the end is piss ease to change, the other place they leak from is the driveshaft seals but not as comon, the only other gasket is for the 5th gear casing to the main gearbox,,,,, but thats a pro job to do as you need to take off 5th gear and also getting it back together you have to line up the selection forks or it wont work
most comon leak though is from the end cap with a 3 quid gasket thats made of cork

its the reverse pin thingy ive had a issue with before, never lined up proper
ive done a few of em, dont need a hydraulic press to take off 5th gear but do need a puller
thats if its leaking from the case though and not the end plate
