Well i thought that anyway, but interesting to hear what other people think and how it's not as simple as being quicker everywhere but a different way of delivering it.

The 330s have more low down and would have better traction pulling away from 0 quicker, but this gets more than compensated further up the speed range and the rev range. High rev action above 75/80mph for example the ST turns the tables for sure.

I saw some test figures showing the ST was 2 secs quicker from 62 - 124 mph.

Misses and I have both bmw and st220 my favourite is the st220 is a better all around car for me its more reliable and comfortable and better quality build than the e46 both we owned from new. The e46 rear seats is cramped and the boot is much smaller and seems to eat bushes and suspension bits like no tomorrow, worst of all e46 has no proper lsd! The e46 is faster in a straight line and sort of comes alive when pressing on whereas the st220 is slower but always feels alive with blend of solidity, quality and refinement.

I found the ST220 to be faster, but you have to use the revs to get to this.

I know of them getting some higher dyno results than 330i's, might be because of the lower power losses through FWD.

I think the ST is a little bit lighter as well.

Well I guess that comes out as more wheel bhp per ton, which must be the main factor of acceleration. The ability to access the bhp through gearing is important too.
