Starting problem MK6 RS2000
It makes a horrible whining noise when trying to start it,and when it starts it runs rough for a couple of seconds and then dies any ideas

Was fine yesterday did smell very petrolly after trying to start it?

check fuel pipes, connections on fuel pump, plugs, leads, fuel filter nuts HTH

If its a noise before the starter motor cuts in it could be the fuel pump throwing the towel in.
