Engine Build 2.0DOHC
just out of curiousity are there any performance parts for the 2.0DOHC 8v EFi Engine from the Sierra?
i mean pistons, rods, cams, crank, etc etc
i was thinking about getting another engine as they're pretty cheap and building it up over a period of time for a turbo setup, maybe T3 or something.

might have a look into it but after fitting that engine and doing the loom etc i was wanting to stay with the same engine...
might seem like a dumb question, but 16v I4? what one's that? (not really a Ford person, more Honda- hence why i don't know )

I run a 2.0 dohc 8v.
Turbo technics made about 30 conversions i think there is about 15 left.
It runs a fifth injector and a t25 turbo on a turbo technics manifold.
The kit can not be bought any longer but once in a blue moon they come up for sale.
The only thing really is
Fse boost valve
piper cams
exhaust and filter
Head port and polish.
I run about 200 hp on the turbo set up thats with boost played with a tad and a ev0 7 intercooler fitted with the above
Hope it helps

yeah i've spoken to Neil briefly about it. I'm almost there, i'll be making up my 5th injector piping etc tomorrow and will be getting all the exhaust apaptors and exhaust welded during the week!
was just planning ahead for another engine to build up just so i have a reliable spare if this one goes out the window
said this before, but nice engine bay mate

Ideally if you want more that say 220 bhp (which is the limit without spending so much, that it would be cheaper to buy a cossie engine) you would need,
T3 and manifold.
Forged Low comp pistons (around Ł600 as no one stocks them).
And even then Ratty & I reckon the 8v head will onlt flow to get you to about 260ish.
To get 220 on standard compression you would need MBE or Fiesta RS turbo management with a set of beige injectors and the loom and also modfy the engine sensors, plus someone to set it up.
Only option really is the low boost set up and a whiff of gas.
If not ditch the lot and throw your money at the cossie lump.
Remember cams are about Ł200 for the twinky and it will only rev to 6250rpm
Hope this helps

In answer to your question above.
The dohc 8v was found in the sierra
The dohc 16v was in the rs2000 escorts
Both were known as the 14 lump.
The standard rs2000 was 150bhp the sierra was 125bhp.
You can use the same bottom ends but would need to change the head, loom, all the injection and most of the sensors, also the engine management, exhaust down pipe made
Has more potentiol than the 8v

ah right enough... not really looking for a lot of power at the moment, just enough to live with
I'm thinking it would be a good enough idea to go with what you have, i.e. cams and a nicely sized intercooler, proper tuning and an oil cooler just to play safe! 200bhp would be sufficient for me i think (fun at sensible speeds )
Just out of curiousity, are you running an oil cooler? and how many miles has your engine done with the turbo?..

My last engine done about 120,000, this engines done about 10,000,
Im not running a oil cooler but will be at some stage soon
For 200bhp you will need
Set of cams (piper 285)
Exhaust & Filter
T25 turbo, manifold with boost around 9 psi maximum 10
Decent-ish intercooler (for ease use a evo 6/7 (got mine for under Ł70)
FSE
And run it on minral oil not semi synthetic (runs better)
Be aware it will eat through HT leads (like every 5000)
You hit 10psi boost at 2400 rpm

not so bad, these engines are cheap as chips anyway, that's why i wanted to stick with them, in case they go
I've got a T25, i'll be using a cav turbo intercooler (small) just now, and probably a completely straight through exhaust 2.5".. and i think i have a cone filter too. Just need to wait and see how it turns out!
i've also got mineral oil here, 10/40? or should i be running something a little heavier.. i'll be changing that every 2-3k miles too!
Do you have any dyno charts you can post up for a quick gander?
thanks again!

I will need to sort out the graphs for the rolling road
10/40 is what i run
I will dig them out over the next couple of days.
If you need more info, let me know, im happy to help where i can.

thanks a lot
don't worry too much about the graphs, just whenever your bored and need something to do!
I'll let you know how i get on anyway over the next week or so.. hopefully it should be running before the weekend.

Yep, it's quite doable, and with the RS2000 16v cams pretty nippy too apparently....
Hofajoab, you didn't say you were already running a turbo, advise the same as Jasesapphy in that case
The scorpio later on ran a 2.3 too if I'm not mistaken, not quite rocking horse shit but rare enough, also ran a detuned 2.0 16v lump in RWD format, quite useful for bottom end all ready to drop in a sierra.
It all fits both 2wd and 4wd anyway, and Graceland ran a 2.0 16v turbo XR4x4 very successfully (kept with a Lexus GS300 OK anyway - and went ROUND corners )

aye i'll prob just stick with the same sort of engine and slap some cams in it, 200bhp is more than enough for me Plus i don't want a big heavy engine, trying to keep the car as light as possible, keeping it as simple as possible.
Got my injector today and made up the pipe to house it, gonna sort out the wiring tomorrow. Also, the guy next door has a MIG so he's gonna help me weld up the exhaust once i get the manifold back from my other mate who's gonna TIG it for me!
Hopefully i'll be boosting within the next 4-5 days! cannot wait!

The sump is a bit lower becasue of the balancer shafts, but you can use the RS2k sump if you machine up a blanking plate for one end.

i read on another forum whilst searching about fuel pumps that i can put a 16v RS2K head on my engine? how involved is that?
i presume i'll need to re-loom/ecu, intake/exhaust manifold.. but apart from that? what about the cam belt/chain, the DOHC uses a chain, what about the RS2K, would i need to change the cam sprocket things to the chain type i presume?
cheers.
oh and what sort of power does this conversion produce?! apparently it'll fly

Team HOTHOT!
new inlet and exhaust manifolds custom made by me
wiring - changed about 6 wires and added a couple more for the edis, used the rs2000 ecu and one of Stu's 5th injector drivers for initial running then went onto megasquirt (ooeer missus).
mechanically - just bolt the 16v head on and thats it really

Team HOTHOT!
rs2000 16v head will go straight onto the sierra 8v block jonny - it aint no shonky 24v scrap ya know
and the pistons are already pocketed for 16v use aswell.

20K+ Super Poster.
lennie on here will soon be selling his tuned 2.0 DOHC lump...
its got full zorst inc manifolds, worked head, cams, chip, airfilter etc. etc. goes really well... i'd say its on par with the 2.9 XR4x4 and I4 lumps! (150bhp)
might be worth picking up... he wont want much for it...

Can you advice me more for 8v dohc? Chip tuning from 116hp to 135hp, what can I do to get more hp without turbo? K&N can't do much...
