I do, after my brand new Renault Clio Sport (8 Years ago) rolled off the drive when it had 200 miles on the clock!

P.s I now hate French cars

Yep you should always leave the car in gear incase the handbrake fails.

1st gear facing uphill & reverse facing downhill, front wheels turned towards the kerb.

You should be a driving instructor

Sound advice from a man that knows.

What he says is what I do.

always leave mine in gear in case of the handbrake failing and to help prevent theft by towing away. its easy to snip the handbrake cable but more noticeable if its in gear as well.

Always leave mine in gear and the hand brake off, only because the Fu**ing thing spends most of its life sitting in the garden so if the hand brake was on it would just seize up

Sad thing is all drivers should know, as it's in the drivers handbook - highway code.

Manufacturers recommend starting with the clutch down for cold starts. IIRC the starter only has to turn the engine then, not both engine and gearbox. dont quote me......

I always leave my car in gear - everywhere.
I know someone who was unfortunate enough to have their car torched outside their house. The handbrake cable snapped, the car rolled and took 2 more cars up with it. Extreme i know but would have limited the loss for others.

I would always leave a car in gear on a hill & maybe on a flat, but I don't have a car

(I always dip the clutch when starting a car)

IMHO this stuff should be part of the practical test and taught throughout the lessons. How many people know what to do with the car if they break down at the side of the road?
Turn wheels towards the kerb and get out of passenger side if on a dual carriageway or motorway stand behind barrier. On top of the obvious stuff.

I always leave mine in gear with handbrake off if i've just washed it and if i'm leaving it for a few days.

Mine almost found out the hard way. Got a lump of wood across garage floor and if it wasn't there she'd have put the car through into the dining room!

Leave my car in gear. Could leave it in neutral and off the handbrake, just by turning the steeringwheel all the way over. Welded diff

yea my dad has driven all his life and has instructed to drive many vehicles and he's always taught me to dip the clutch it saves the starter and help's the battery in such cold climate if you start the car with the clutch down let it start and then steady itself pull the clutch up and you'll hear the note change as it takes the strain of the gearbox turning with cold oil in it so it deffo is a useful tip, even my driving instructor thought it was weird but he was a new boy so deffo went with my old man and still did it even though he said not to bother

and i always leave mine in gear mainly to stop it being pinched but you never no if the handbrake is to fail so better safe than sorry imo.

So who leave's the car in gear?

buy her a vectra c that not had the rework done on the handbrake lever ans she will soon find out why you leave your car in gear as it makes it way down the road

the escort is in gear in the garage so brakes dont stick on.
but the polo lives on the drive out of gear,bu i have a flat drive.
hills i always leave in gear out of paranoia and tilt wheels in to kerb.
and although i do what seems like all the options which confuses the issue,i always start a car with the clutch in after checking its out of gear
