So does anyone have any suggestions for new tyres? A good set of tyres makes the car on the twisties so no suggestions of Nankak or others of equally fine grade plastic.
It currently runs on 215/40 17 Toyo T1-R's and I have had no bother with them at all and when they were legal they did well and were a good tyre. I also had Eagle F1's on a Cos and from what I remember they were good also. These are the 2 Im in deliberation with at the mo, however if I go T1-R again Ill only fit 2 on the rear as the fronts are still healthy. F1's will be getting a set of 4 as I like my tyres to match.
If there are any other tyres you recommend trying that better these two then Im all ears. The car gets used in all weathers and I like to tackle the bends at speed.

I've had Eagle F1 on three different cars so know what they are like, still the most overated pile of shit going, I have also had uniroyal rainsports way better than F1, or
T1R, the T1S were very good, the R is very bad.
I am using now since a bit of research Vredestein Sportrac 3, but in your size when I get 17" I wil be using Vredestein Sessanta, and that would be my recommendation.
Put into context the sportrac 3 I have grip better in the wet than the F1 did in the dry.

Used t1r's and f1's would say the car was better on the goodyears apart from hitting standing water, way better everywhere else, loads of grip but don't last 5 minutes.
Have yoko parradas now but not been out with them yet.

Might just be me but I reckon my car was alot better on 205's than 215's, felt more agile with better feedback.

Yes, have heard lots of good reports about the 452s.
Have Toyo resolved their one-time issues with the sidewall flex on the T1-R....or was it just an early dodgy batch of tyres that put many off?

Were they the old GSD2/GSD3? Or the new Asymmetric ones?
I found the old GSD2/GSD3 type had a bit of a soft sidewall even in XL fitment and used to feel a bit "squirmy" on mine. I've heard that about the the Toyo T1-r as well?
On mine the old Yoko AVS Sports used to be excellent in the dry - you could tell at the tyre fitters that the sidewall was much stiffer, just like on the Toyo 888.

Asymetric ones. My replacements are much better..... Bridgestone Potenza, not sure what model exactly.
IME a lot depends on the fittment though, whats good on one size/profile will be awful on another. I guess a lot depends on the chassis set up too!
Its a minefield really

A lot of the BMW boys are using those tyres as they seem to minimise tramlining issues on M-Sport models, especially the staggered alloy option.

Just fitted the new rears, the old ones were definately 6 points worth ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
A rolling burnout and a couple of sideways corners on the way home from work and they seem to have scrubbed in quite well already. The grip difference is class. Cornering feels nice again, no turn in and waiting for the back end to snatch out now. Nice even understeer/oversteer under enthusiastic cornering. No more testing like that till the better weather though, dont want to push my luck and get bit on the arse by the shitty weather.

DBM did perfectly fine on my last Sapph. Plus Stu told me what needs to be what when I got the software so as long as everything gets set where it should then we're all good
