How did he lose it so bad? Don't they have old leaf springs at the back??

You've been watching, and believing Clarkson too much..

Judging by the twitch just before, it was either "C" clip come off or more likely half shaft snapped.

read a write up in top gear last week where they yook a mustang to a `well known car manufacturer with a racing heritage known for sorted suspension` (made it quite clear who it was without saying),put one up one the ramps and they were very impressed with the setup even tho it had a transverse leaf spring!!!
