Cossie lifters dont "pump up" with excess revs/heat IME, they invariabley collapse slightly instead.
So its a LOSS of lift you encounter

With this solid lifter thing and loss of lift. Is it only the inlet side that needs to be taken care of or do you have to run solids on the exhaust side as well?

Bet you can't (leave it alone that is ).

1. It's a Cosworth, so it won't LET you leave it alone (something will require upgrading when it breaks ).
2. Modifying is an official recognised disease - you have more than just minor symptoms, so even if 1. doesn't happen, you WILL be doing something as and when finances allow .

If you are going to track it hard, you will want to go to solids IMHO, other than that I reckon your spec is pretty good now for what you want from it.

Is the heat of the oil the main reason for this? Or is it a mix of factors?

The engine rpm speed is too much for the lifters and they pump all their oil out and get aireated and they are travelling too fast (outside their design remit) and can't recover and fill back up with oil until the revs come back down. This makes them very noisy and obviously they are not opening and closing the valves correctly.

I have always termed this event as "pump up" (as that seems to be what people call this), but what they really do is "pump out" . Hope this clarifies .
