Now, noone laugh at me or I will go crying to the nearest mod.

Basically, my reverse light has packed up.

No it is not the bulb.

Its been on the blink for a few weeks, when I used to put it in reverse...the light would come on and then turn itself off randomly, which could be fixed by re-engaging the gear.

Now its packed up completely.

I take it its done on some kind of sensor, and that sensor is now fucked.

The fuse is apparently shared with the brake lights which are working, so it can't really be that can it?

How easy a job is this to fix?

The switch screws into the gearbox iirc, cost about a fiver from a motorfactors and about 5 mins to fit it
