i've bought a cheap car, it's a cat c which is on the log book and it's had a vic check. i've checked the chassis numbers and they all match and look untampered with.

however, the registration on the car and the log book is different to what comes up when i type the reg into my parts computer at work, i work at a main dealer.

now the obvious answer is it's had a private plate thats been removed and then re-issued with a different reg. but would it state that on the log book? it's a 1995 car worth about £500 so i'm not overly concerened, just a little confused!

Mine has been on a normal plate and two private and then on to the present normal.Nothing is stated on the logbook about a plate change.They just get a year related plate after.

Get your sales dept. to do a HPI check for you. It will show up the number of plate changes, dates and what the old numbers were

Ive had a couple of cars that had privite plates on before i had them and on the log book it said non-tranferable reg mark.
