Default Custom Cam Profiles

Is there such a thing as a cam machines to match your exsisting engine spec... Or is it just "bullshit"?

If there is truth in it, who is best to see about getting a "custom cam" made, are Newmans anygood?

Ta very much.

Plenty places can do re-profiled cams to spec and yes it is important to where and what you want powerwise

I would love to be proven wrong on this custom cam thing, but I don't know if I am convinced that they even really exist.

I have had cams done overseas to our exact spec - one offs so it is v possible - I'm sure companies in UK like newman may also be able to offer this service - just dont know price for such a small run.

Yes they do exist!

YEs newman can make them, but so can Piper and Kent among others!

The problem is YOU need to tell the manufacturer exactly what you want, its not a case of saying I have a 1600cc rst with a t34 and I want no lag with 300 bhp! You need to design the cam timing, which means LOTS of knowledge but even more testing!

As above they all do custom cams. Karl uses Piper and Kent to make his cams. Mine was made by Piper to Karl's spec.

The clever part is knowing what spec to go with, not making it.

Getting my cam from Karl was the best thing i did to my car. Really made a difference.

AVA have a good working relationship with Newman, they also use Piper!

The cams are spec'd specificaly by AVA for each of the above builds!
Newman in Davie's(T28) and Jamies case along with mine do happen to be Newman cams each differing in spec.

What we do have in common is solid lifters.

As per Jons comments its not just the cam spec but the entire build that needs taken in to account and the cam specd acordingly!

Not sure taking the car down to them will acieve much! They don't work on cars, they manufacture camshafts.
