hey guys, need a bit of help, just fitted a brand new battery,brand new alternator and a drive belt to my frst but the battery light is staying on? could this be an earth fault? im scratching my head here...

Disconnect the IND wire, the thin blue one that goes to the charge light, if it goes out then the circuit is ok so feed is coming through the alt, the IND terminal on the alt is earth when stopped but turns live when running(rotating) so turning light out, seesm like it is not switching over, oddly enough it could still be charging!!.
Put a metre on now and see if it is outputting, but whatever it shows the alt would be at fault, if wire disconection puts light off.
The light warning bit is part of the regulator/rectifier pack, so a quick fix for lecky place.
Give it a good rev before above though as some need more of a kick to initiate.

My old FRST was like this. I never did crack it but the car always stareted, ran and charged fine, even when left to stand for a period.

i had this with an old escort van, was annoying having that light on because if your alternator did go you had no warning light as its already on lol
