Default S1 engine into sierra

Was just wondering if anyone on here ever put an S1 engine into a 2.0 pinto sierra. The only bit that concerns me is the gearbox mating.
I have been told that a type9 gearbox can be mated with the S1 with an adaptor plate...is there any truth in this?
Any help appreciated!

People do zetecs, so should go in.

God knows why though, so many much better engines to use than a shitty old cvh IMHO!

There were CVH Sierra, so I dont see why not. I reckon you'd be better off keeping the pinto though and fiddling with that, loads of gains to be had

It would be slower than a standard cosworth, and those are nothing like fun IMHO

And it would be less reliable.

Even a 2.9 v6 makes more sense, and thats saying something

Awful idea imo as Chip says. A 200bhp cvh would not be the most reliable thing in the world, and far from quick either.

Well I agree..its def not a great engine to be putting into a sierra.
But its not mine and I am getting paid to do it by a lad I know.
He has a knackered fiesta that has a decent S1 engine, and a clean sierra with a knackered engine...so it all comes down to the parts you have I suppose.

I used to have a sierra 1.8lx (CVH) cossie rep. i looked briefly into dropping in a turbo engine. pretty sure you have to relocate the dizzy because of the bulkhead, and then theres the custom tubing etc..

custom inlet and exhaust dizzy would have to be relocated or coilpacked
1.8 sierra block due to mounts and with custom pistons turbo head oil return for turbo list goes on and on and on

Tuned pinto or a 2.9 24valve

id imagine the thermostat would have to be relocated or modified as id bet it would hit the bulkhead

id look for a v8 or something not a cvh turbo !

2.9 24v will give you 200bhp and will just keep on going

sell the turbo lump and get a 24v.dont bother with any of the other v6's as they cant get out of their own way.i remember a 100e with an rs turbo lump in it,it all looked well fitted and standardish.i would give it a try 1st but i would expect at least the exhaust manifold to be pointing at the engine mounts and crossmember.

Also you could use an efi cvh and relocate the coil pack.

Well it looks like this job is definetly going ahead...despite me making it perfectly clear to the owner that it was the wrong route to go down! Its just what he wants to do...money no object..

The main hurdles i can see are;
-Exhaust manifold in the way of engine mounts
-Dizzy will hit bulkhead
-Thermostat housing will hit bulkhead
-Turbo inlet on the wrong side(will be facing back of car close to bulkhead)

Anyone want to piss me off and add some more to that list

Does anyone know who sells performance tubular manifolds for these engines..might be easier than modifying the existing one.

buy a 1.8 cvh to start with
then you can swap bits around
cheapest bang for buck though is the 24V
£500 shoudl get you sorted with 200 odd brake and enough torque to worry the transmission and tyres
