mine was mint,,,, plenty of launches, flat out in 3rd from low revs, 4 wheel spins, drifts etc (tinky winky drifts, not Jap stylee )

can't you sort out a deal with Neil on his running gear, would probably be the easiest & cheapest option

Kev,

We dont drive the Saff like animals, and ours is RWD (and T34) we're on our 3rd box (bit the bullet and got one rebuilt and its been ok since ). So with 4x4 you don't stand a chance!!

surely, if you had it mapped so that it only has the same kinda torque in the midrange as a T34, then build it up to the limiter it should be fine?

I changed my standard box for a Bara box after 3 months of driving with a T38 just in case I broke it.

600 miles later, the new box broke!!!

Rad, how will a T5 fit a 4x4 without converting it to RWD? which he would do if he was a proper man anyway

Kev if you go for a ut t38 it may actualy give less torque than your T34 and with less of a spike , all depends how it is maped i supose . I would stick with what you know, you have just got the car back on the road and last thing you want is for it to start smashing up trans parts and get no use out of it

McSnapper you got your beam back yet , i want to see how a properly mapped T4 car goes

Is there anyway to keep the MT75 running sweet without it blowing up, other than spending silly money on a big power box or staying standard power and driving like a woman???

used to trash boxes with the t34....only done 1 with the ut t38 in 3 year (had this 1 for 2 year)....my cars mapped smooth....no massive boost spike to make me think i'm going fast.........also i use std diffs aswell (plated front).......but i never launch the car.....the ut t38 is a good turbo for std trans....u might not get the "bang" of a t34 but it holds and pulls right to the limit....

Same position as you mate, still haven't convinced myself that i can warrant spending £k's on decent 4x4 transmission for an old sierra!
So that's why i haven't bothered getting a bigger turbo yet.
And as already stated it really depends on the condition of the box, i completely destroyed mine including the casing on an Ahmed stg 3 chip and t3, but it had done 90k, so it was bound to go anyway. Lol and just for the record i used the money i had to buy another decent box to buy a shitter of a RWD saph aswell... So now i have 2 cossies an no decent gearbox, good plan eh.....

Why exactly would you buy a roller bearing T34 over a internally gated GT3071r????

As for not breaking boxes what ever turbo you get it can be sorted by good mapping.

If you used a GT30 and mapped it properly you would end up with a nice and progressive car to drive with a great top end.

The other way to stop breaking boxes is to reduce the inertia of your car by reducing its weight.
