Dangers of the motorway/hard shoulder

I nearly skipped past this thread based on the title. In a way I'm glad I didn't now. I would like to think that I would never sit in my car on the hard shoulder but this has just reinforced that so that I ensure I don't even if its pissing down with rain!
You are very very lucky to get away from that one with relatively minor injuries. I know back problems and whiplash are not nice but they are a whole lot better than the alternative.

tbh it was quite noisey and cold hence i got back into the car to call The AA. Been told that they would've advised me to stand outside or sit in the passenger seat with me belt on if i had manage to have a converstation with them but everything just happend so fast...
