Default Tracing a with-held number?

Is there anyway of tracing a withheld number? I keep getting calls between 3-6am in the morning, usual shit, answer and no talking just silence ... Can your network trace them or is it just a case of tough shit? ... And no I haven't upset anyone recently , so not going to swap my number either..

Just fucking cowardly IMHO

thought a network could either trace or bar a number from calling?! think you have to give them a good reason too thou, if its been alot of calls then they can look up on their system how often it is and should do something about it for u! but if its that bad as said log it with the police, and give ur network provider a ring mate!

Get your service provider to block the number
It's probably a computerised system of some sort dialling the wrong number.

Years ago my parents kept getting prank calls so BT recorded all calls. I think the person has to call at least 3 times in 1 week to be a prank call. It turned out it was someone my dad gave a lift to work.

your moby or landline.
If it's your landline you can have a block put on it to stop withheld nos.

No it is someone being a cunt , call lasts for a few seconds until they hang up, but can hear music etc in the background ... Doesn't bother me really as my phone is on silent, but be nice to go and give whoever is doing it a bit of a lesson about respect

Cant you divert all with-held numbers straight to your voice mail and also set your voice mail alert to silent so as not to wake you?

Default prank calls

had something similar on my landline when I was selling a car, police wont do nothing, nor will bt, the only thing you can do if its a landline is pay bt £4 a month to block witheld numbers. On a mobile, your even more limited.... you could always get the polices attention by saying that you were receiving death threats!! then the police HAVE to get involved...of course I didnt suggest that....

I dont understand why phones wont allow you to direct just withheld numbers straight to answer phone, seems like such a simple thing to do.

Its possible for your phone to be set so that withheld numbers still come up on the screen, when you withhold your number the number is still sent to the recipient network but with a flag telling them to not display it, they can over ride this request on a per handset basis, but they wont do so for members of the public, so as per above, police is your only option as far as I know.

If he does divert to 999 he risks prosecution I suspect.

If he diverts to an 0898 number (or modern equivalent) HE will pay for the forwarded portion of the call, so it will cost him a fortune while the caller gets a free wank

we rang bt and said we had it, then she set up something so when it happens we dial 1777 or similar (i cant remember) and a voice over the phone tells you the call has been traced and noted. its ben going on for about 6 weeks.
