Default Help with car valuation, trade evo 8 for focus st3

My sister has an evo 8 on a 53 plate that she says is a "gsr 280". I think its an import which is the equivalent of an FQ300, and it has 310 bhp(not sure how or why she thinks that). TBH i dont think its a modded car bar an exhaust. She and her other half bought it and dont know much about cars.

It has a full service history with 59k miles. There are a couple wee things like a wee bit rust on the tailgate at spoiler but overall a good used evo.

So whats it worth these days?!

Basically her other half wants them to trade it in to save the hassle. He wants a Focus ST3. The local ford garage have one thats 9 months old, 3dr and 8k miles and they want £15k. They are offering £7k for the evo.

So could they expect more for the evo?

And what should they pay for an st3? They ideally want one thats within warranty and doesnt need an mot as they seem to think it'll save hassle/cost etc. I personally think they should sell the evo off cheap at trade price if they'll take that, get a loan instead of finance and buy a cheaper focus privately thats maybe 2yr old.

Any thoughts?

Firstly if I had a car of that value I'd sell it private (if you have no outstanding finance and can be assed with the hassle) as you'll get more ££ for it, but obviously trade in takes the hassle out of having to get rid of it yourself.
Secondly, I think that she's getting old like me and doesn't want shitty old Fords that break down...... (Hence my newly acquired Mazda slaaaag)
And finally, I think that you could easily get more than 7k for an Evo 8, price it at 8.5k and accept 8 for example.

You can get a brandnew ST3 for about 15k with options, there are a few on ebay that are ads for main dealers offering them at this price, wait for the mk2 RS to hit the streets and the prices will fall even lower.

Typically go for a face lift (mk2.5) with options from a main dealer for MAX 15.5 (less than 8k on the clock), also tell them to binn any GAP etc as you can get all that off your own back its very easy and very cheap.

Dealers are taking trade ins that are a year old sub 10k for 13,000!!!
